Getting Noticed....by a Weirdo though :(

There is this guy at the gym that I refer to as "the gym owner". He doesn't really own the gym. It's just that he walks around the place like he does. He is really hilarious. He acts like he is just The MAN and is always rocking out in between all his sets listening to his headphones. It is super funny. Well, he has been saying stuff to me from day one that is just crazy. I don't even know his real name and it's not like he knows mine or anything about me....he just does this stuff where he walks up to anyone and makes an off hand comment.

So this was what he said today:

I was over doing a superset for back on the rowing machine and he walks up to me and says, "ok, I have figured you out. There is one of 4 things going on here"....confused, I'm like "what do you mean?". And he's like "yeah. you got a new car, cut your hair, your working out super hard...there is one of four things going on. You are either:
1. recently divorced
2. recently married
3. have a sugar daddy
or 4. you got a new promotion making a shit load of money"

I laughed and told him it was none of the above. Man, this guy is crazy.

So in conclusion, I believe that Gym Owner was talking to me because he has definitely noticed the changes in my body and really he was hoping I would say I was divorced so that he could like ask me out or something. Too bad I'm being noticed by the weird guy.

Road Trip

If anyone is interested in going with me to Dallas/Mesquite area the weekend of April 9-11th, please let me know. I'm going to go to the Ronnie Coleman Classic there to see the Figure show. I have a hotel room already booked, and it would be great to have company. But if I don't have any, I will just end up immersing myself in all the body building activities. Which is not a big deal, just may be a little more lonely. :)

My NPC Card

I think I mentioned awhile back that I got my NPC card finally. You have to be a member of the NPC to compete. So, I'm glad I got it, but I have to say that I'm really pissed that it is so hard to read. What the heck?

Posing Work

So I started trying to figure out posing. Seems simple enough but there is so much to it. I'm trying to not have to have a coach. So I bought this DVD:Tanji Johnson is who made it and that is her on the cover. She is a Fitness competitor, but the Fitness competitions have a Physique round with the same type of posing that is in Figure.

Her DVD is really really good. It breaks down each mandatory pose: Front, Back, Side, and the quarter turn. She points out all the things you really should not do and how just doing little things differently makes you look completely different on stage. I'm so glad that I spent $45 on buying this dvd. Now I just have to practice. The quarter turn part is easy. And I think I'll be able to really get the poses down once I practice a little each week. I'm already getting the hang of what it feels like to let my lats hold up my upper body. The part I'm really scared about is getting the evening show part down. You have to stroll across stage and do all these freestyle poses. Then wave and walk off. I'm sure I can throw my personality into it just fine, but I am really scared about walking and posing for the right amount of time. Tanji keeps saying some girls rush it or look down when they are walking. I definitely don't want that to be me. So I guess I will just have to get out and practice!!!

Also, I bought these two dvd's from Jen Hendershot who is also a Fitness Pro. I have just started watching the first one, so I have no clue if they are any good or not. So far, she did mention breathing and that was something Tanji didn't really mention at all.

One thing is for sure, the quality is not anything like Tanji's. Tanji obviously put a lot of work into making her DVD, while I think Jen just went and made hers to say she had one. That is annoying.

Progress Pics....Finally!!!

I finally took some progress pics.....

My stats for these photos are as follows:

Weight: 131.4 pounds
Body fat: 21%
Water: 57.7%
Lean Body Mass: 98.6 lbs
Physique Rating: 6
BMR: 1405
Metabolic Age: 13
Visceral Fat: 2

If you go back and look at November, which was just 2 months ago, I was 136 pounds and 26% body fat. What a difference 2 months makes!!! And let's remember that I was a complete fat ass at 150 pounds in May of 2009. Funny how this year I'll be going on a pre-contest diet in May!!!

I sound excited but I know I have a long way to go. The things that I think are going really good so far are my arms and shoulders and even my abs. These 3 areas look the best they ever have. It is hard to see from the photos but my arms are super huge and buff. When I start melting off the fat, I think they will be plum scary. But I still think I need a tremendous amount of work on my legs and butt and back. I think I just have too much fat on my back because I am seriously strong when it comes to doing pull ups and rows and lat pull downs. Even one arm rows, I kick ass. But I probably need to push my quads to a whole new level. I think when I do the leg press I kick butt because I press like 160 pounds. But when I squat I am always supersetting with the hack squats and that means I usually just use free weights so I only squat about 40 pounds. This week I am going to try and use the smith machine so I can squat like 70-90 pounds instead and hopefully I'll step up the hack squats to like 80 pounds. What is disappointing is I think the hardest day of the week for me is glutes and hams. That workout kicks my ass. I sweat like a pig and I am so tired afterwards. This week my hams hurt for two days afterwards. And boo, I still look like I don't train them hard enough. :( Guess we'll just have to see what Amy has to say about all of this!!!!

Progress Pics coming...

I promise I am going to get new progress pics up today. I can't stand that it has been so long since my last pic update. I can't even look at the ones from December.

I will say that I gained a few pounds over the holidays and was really disappointed in myself. I was like 135lbs post new years. I'm back down to 132 today and 22% body fat. But I am so pissed that I set myself back a couple weeks with the holidays. I wanted to be at 20% body fat by now. Oh well, I am making progress. I tracked my weight the last couple weeks and my body fat went down a couple points and my weight went down as well. Last week I only lost 1/2 a pound but I can tell that I am getting buffer, so I guess that is all that matters.

I am most proud of my shoulder work so far because I can see definition in my delts that has never been there before. I am finally getting some results in my abs too. And I am even seeing changes in my calves which is crazy because they were already HUGE. Any how...seems like my back and my glutes still need a lot of work. I wonder if I won't see some of the changes until I finally start trimming off all my fat?

AND, I just want to make a small complaint.... I am starving ALL THE TIME. I wake up hungry. And I'm working out and my stomach is growling. It sucks. Sometimes I eat and I'm hungry like one hour later. I feel like I should be a fat burning machine at this point but for some reason I'm still not changing drastically on the scale. But, I won't give up... I have a very long way to go and plenty of time to make changes.

Contest Date Change

The Houston Pro Am date is now up in the air!!!!

So aparantly the Junior Nationals are coming to Houston. They want the August 28th date. So I emailed the promotor of the Houston Pro show and they say that they haven't decided on an official date. Which means a few things:

One of the following will now happen:

A. The date only moves ahead or back a couple weeks and so I do the same show

B. The date moves too far ahead and I pick another show. If this occurs then I will be doing one of the others listed here:
Texas State Naturals - July 17 in Stafford TX
Capital of Texas - August 7, Austin
Europa Super Show - August 13-14, Dallas
South Texas - Sept 18th, Sant Antonio
Branch Warren - July 10th, Spring TX

C. The date moves months behind, in which case I will still do the Houston show, just have more months in off-season

I really don't want it to move ahead because that will cut out time I could be spending on off-season to build muscle. That is really important. Andy keeps mentioning that I should be more worried about losing weight on the pre-contest diet, but the way I see it is this is my last chance to make sure my muscles look awesome. The pre-contest is all about melting away the fat. And it's the muscle definition that will win a show. (not that I think I can win, but I am just working my ass off, ok?)

So, more to come... I will let everyone know as soon as I have a clue what the heck contest I am even doing!!!!
