So I started trying to figure out posing. Seems simple enough but there is so much to it. I'm trying to not have to have a coach. So I bought this DVD:Tanji Johnson is who made it and that is her on the cover. She is a Fitness competitor, but the Fitness competitions have a Physique round with the same type of posing that is in Figure.
Her DVD is really really good. It breaks down each mandatory pose: Front, Back, Side, and the quarter turn. She points out all the things you really should not do and how just doing little things differently makes you look completely different on stage. I'm so glad that I spent $45 on buying this dvd. Now I just have to practice. The quarter turn part is easy. And I think I'll be able to really get the poses down once I practice a little each week. I'm already getting the hang of what it feels like to let my lats hold up my upper body. The part I'm really scared about is getting the evening show part down. You have to stroll across stage and do all these freestyle poses. Then wave and walk off. I'm sure I can throw my personality into it just fine, but I am really scared about walking and posing for the right amount of time. Tanji keeps saying some girls rush it or look down when they are walking. I definitely don't want that to be me. So I guess I will just have to get out and practice!!!
Also, I bought these two dvd's from Jen Hendershot who is also a Fitness Pro. I have just started watching the first one, so I have no clue if they are any good or not. So far, she did mention breathing and that was something Tanji didn't really mention at all.
One thing is for sure, the quality is not anything like Tanji's. Tanji obviously put a lot of work into making her DVD, while I think Jen just went and made hers to say she had one. That is annoying.
